Jet Orientation Course launched at Cambridge Airport
Today we welcomed the first students to undertake our new Jet Orientation Course (JOC), which was run by instructors Luke Barratt and Mike Dacey.
Jet Orientation Courses will take place weekly at our Cambridge Airport Training Centre, near London Stansted, using the Boeing 737-800 flight simulator. The course lasts two days, including a total of 8 hours groundschool and 8 hours simulator training, split into eight separate modules.
The purpose of this course is to give commercial pilots of varying ability the handling skills, knowledge and confidence necessary to secure an airline position flying jet aircraft. Much more than just a qualification, it provides a solid foundation for passing a simulator assessment, followed by the steep learning curve of type rating training.
"We felt that many students would like a type-specific JOC based on a modern, glass-cockpit aircraft like the Boeing 737-800" said Flight Training Manager, Mark Green. "There are already fifteen JOC students booked in for October, which is about twice the number we originally forecast, so it's already more popular than we imagined."
